The successful negotiation and unveiling of the 2026 agreement between the Federal Government and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has been described as a landmark achievement.
A University of Abuja administrator and stakeholder, Arch. Amdii A. Amdii, made the observation in a statement issued in Abuja, crediting SSANU National President, Comrade Ibrahim Mohammed, and members of the union’s National Administrative Council (NAC) with the achievement.
He said the agreement reflected Mohammed’s resilience and commitment to improving the welfare and protecting the dignity of university senior staff.
According to Amdii, the successful negotiation was the result of sustained agitation, strategic engagement and purposeful leadership.
“The 2026 Agreement did not come by chance. It is a product of consistent agitation, strategic engagement and selfless leadership.
“Comrade Mohammed has shown capacity, courage and sincerity in piloting the affairs of SSANU,” he said.
Amdii added that university staff across the country were satisfied with the leadership provided by Mohammed and the NAC.
He called on SSANU members and branches to maintain their support for the national leadership, stressing the need for the full implementation of the agreement.
He also expressed confidence in the union’s leadership and prayed for continued wisdom and strength for Mohammed as he leads efforts to advance the interests of senior staff in Nigerian universities.
