The Concerned APC Women Initiative Pankshin LGA, Plateau, has endorsed all its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, while also rewarding individuals who have achieved remarkable success in different spheres of life.
Mrs Bridget Tunkuda, the convener of the group, announced the endorsement on Friday in Pankshin.
Tunkuda was also joined by other members of the group in a show of solidarity with the party and its candidates.
“We are here in solidarity with the APC national chairman to endorse the candidates of our great party, from President Bola Tinubu, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Hon. Bitrus Barji, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi.
“Rotshak Yokden, to all other candidates within Pankshin LGA and beyond; because we have tested them in different areas and they have performed excellently.
“On behalf of the group, we shall stand by their mandates for the continuous delivery of the dividends of democracy.
“We also want to use this opportunity to plead with the President, the Governor, and party stakeholders to give women more opportunities in elective positions and political appointments,” she said.
Tunkuda added that, the group also aimed to recognise great personalities who have distinguished themselves in various fields.
“We are also gathered to recognise and honour individuals who have made meaningful impacts on society.
“These impacts range from humanitarian services, women’s empowerment, youth and community development, and business innovations to mentorship and public service,” she explained.
According to her, the group is a coalition of different women’s support groups, boasting more than 4,000 members across the state.
Tunkuda noted that the group shares a common vision, mission, and goal to protect the rights of women in politics and other areas of life.
She emphasized that women possess the numerical advantage, potential, capacity, and awareness to succeed both on the home front and within the political ecosystem.
In the same vein, Mr Joshua Goshi, the patron of the group, commended the initiative, praising the women for uniting to drive the growth and development of their peers.
“Even though this group is a political movement, its operations expand beyond politics to the general well-being of every woman, irrespective of her political affiliation.
“We will do everything possible to give this group all the support and recognition they need to succeed. We also urge them to use their voting strength to ensure the party’s victory come 2027, he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 21 persons received awards for their outstanding societal impacts.
Also, 23 individuals received political recognition awards for their contributions to the growth of the party.
