Plateau government to improve standard of education in the state-TSC

Plateau Teachers Service Commission (TSC), reaffirmed government’s commitment to enhancing educational standard across the state by gathering vital data from secondary school principals.

Speaking during the exercise on Wednesday in Pankshin, Mr Alex Chup, Chairman, TSC , Plateau, described the exercise as a means of identifying the challenges of secondary schools in the state.

“Governor Caleb Mutfwang is commitment to improving the standard of education in the state using the data provided by principals of schools for decision making.

“The governor wants the state to be among the top-performing states academically in the country and will do everything within his power to achieve that” he said.

Chup called on school principals to provides accurate and reliable data that would enable government to make good decision in the future.

“TSC will prioritise your welfare by ensuring that your promotion, advancement, and working conditions are improved. However, we will not tolerate lazy and unproductive teachers” he added.

Similarly, Mr Hezekiah Awus, Permanent Secretary of TSC, called on school principals to provide correct and reliable data about their schools.

According to him, the data would enable both Ministry Of Education(MOE) and TSC to identify staff strength and other areas of need the government should priorotise.

He challenged teachers to exhibit a high level of professionalism in discharging their duties to those who look upon them.

“As teachers, you are role models and mentors to yourselves, students, and the community in general.

“You owe the young teachers and students the responsibility to guide them in all areas related to their profession and academic pursuits.

“You must give the young teachers the necessary advice in relation to their promotion, advancement, and other things that will enhance their welfare and productivity” he said.

Awus also called on school principals and stakeholders to priorotise the welfare of their members by reporting all challenges and disciplinary cases to the TSC for necessary action.

Earlier, Mr Moses Dakup, zonal director, Plateau central zone, TSC, commended the efforts of the government and all stakeholders in ensuring the needs of schools were met.

Dakup charged all principals to cooperate in the exercise and give correct and reliable information that would help in decision making.
