Birnin Kebbi, Sept. 2, 2026 The Kebbi Police Command says it has arrested two suspected cattle rustlers and recovered cows intended to be sold at Bunza market.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
He said: “The arrest was made on August 28, following intelligence and community information. Abubakar Wakili and Usman Dan-Bello were arrested in Bunza after residents alerted the police to the movement of the animals.
“The cows were believed to have been taken from Ganten Tudu in Bagudo Local Government Area and brought to Bunza market for sale.
“The animals have since been handed over to the rightful owner, who identified them as his stolen cows.
“Investigation is ongoing to uncover more details and identify other persons connected with the crime.”
While reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Hadejia, thanked members of the public for their support and urged everyone to continue sharing useful information with the police for the safety of all.
