Ibadan, Sept. 1, 2026 (NAN) A delegation from the University of Ibadan Sports Academy on Tuesday presented the “Iconic Friend Award” to Hon. Kehinde Olaosebikan on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale.
The presentation took place in Ibadan at the headquarters of the President Bola Tinubu – Kehinde Olaosebikan (PBAT-KO) Grassroots Movement.
The event was witnessed by members of the PBAT-KO Grassroots Movement and various sports stakeholders from across the state.
Leading the delegation, Prof. Olufemi Adegbesan, Chairman of the UI Sports Academy, stated that the honor recognised Olaosebikan’s selfless service and immense contributions to the establishment of the institution.
“On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, I present this award to Hon. Kehinde Olaosebikan as an Iconic Friend of the Academy,” Adegbesan said.
“This is in recognition of your selfless service and immense contributions to the establishment of the Sports Academy of the UI.”
Adegbesan noted that the university was deeply impressed by Olaosebikan’s commitment to youth and sports development, which has significantly advanced the Academy’s vision.
The delegation also included Prof. Nureni Adewole and Dr. Ajijola Mullie, the Secretary of the UI Sports Academy.
Olaosebikan, the Chief Executive Officer of Global PR firm, Midas Communications Limited, thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the UI team for the recognition.
The former Oluyole Local Government Chairman and House of Representatives aspirant pledged his continued commitment to making the UI Sports Academy the best on the continent.
He noted that his motivation to support the Academy stems from its alignment with the national sports policy and the spirit of the federal government’s current administration.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda places emphasis on initiating, supporting, and promoting activities, programmes, and structures designed to further the growth of Nigeria in all aspects, especially in sports and youth development,”Olaosebikan stated.
He expressed a strong belief that President Bola Tinubu’s recent approval to overhaul football administration and reset sports governance offers the best opportunity to promote systemic development across Nigeria sports.
This overhaul, he added, is a notable and much-needed attempt to structurally change the face of sports development in the country. (NAN)
