UNIJOS matriculate 520 parttime students in Pankshin

The University of Jos (UNIJOS) in affiliation with the Federal University of Education Pankshin (FUEP), on Friday matriculated 520 part-time students for the 2026 academic session.

Prof. Tanko Ishaya, Vice-Chancellor (V-C)of UNIJOS, who declared the ceremony opened charged the matriculants to be good ambassadors of the institution.

Ishaya, who was represented by Prof. Grace Cholom, Dean, Faculty of Education, UNIJOS, said matriculation marked the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of students.

He said the ceremony would shape the students’ lives and prepare them to become successful and competent professional teachers.

“UNIJOS and FUEP are committed to providing you with quality educational experiences, considering the crop of experienced and well-seasoned academic and non-teaching staff.

“We are confident in the quality of staff, facilities and resources available at FUEP to provide a supportive learning environment and training for you to become competent and skilful teachers,” he said.

Ishaya said the institutions were committed to exposing the part-time students to current and innovative teaching strategies to support their professional growth.

“The class of degree you graduate with starts from your first year; therefore, you must be of good conduct and take your studies with all seriousness.

“As UNIJOS students in this institution, all rules and regulations guiding students will be applicable to you.

“I challenge you to set your goals and work hard toward achieving them,” he added.

Also speaking, Prof. Noel Wannang, Vice-Chancellor, FUEP, congratulated the newly matriculated students and urged them to remain disciplined and diligent.

Wannang, who was represented by Prof. Dung Dauda, Dean, College of Sciences, FUEP, said the matriculation ceremony marked a turning point in the students’ academic journey.

“To the newly matriculating students, today marks a turning point for you. By taking the matriculation oath, you have joined a community of scholars of UNIJOS.

“FUEP is committed to producing graduates of sound character, competence and integrity.

“As you join us today, we expect you to be disciplined and diligent while balancing your work and studies,” he said.

The vice-chancellor said the two institutions had maintained a longstanding partnership, adding that they would sustain the collaboration to produce sound, experienced and skilful professional teachers.

Mr Nathan Jerry, Part-time Students’ Union Government (SUG) President, welcomed the newly matriculated students.

“Matriculation is not just a ceremony; it is a covenant between you, the institution and the pursuit of knowledge, character and service,” he said.

Jerry pledged to be the students’ voice, protect their interests and ensure a conducive learning environment for all part-time students.
