Kaduna, Aug. 26, 2026 The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Wednesday decorated 36 officers promoted in the 2026 promotion exercise in Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the officers comprised 12 Assistant Corps Commanders, seven Chief Route Commanders, six Superintendent Route Commanders, five Route Commanders and six Deputy Route Commanders.
The decoration ceremony was jointly organised by the FRSC Kaduna Zonal Command and the Kaduna Sector Command.
Representing the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, the Zonal Commanding Officer, Kaduna Zone, Assistant Corps Marshal Abdullahi Sanusi, congratulated the newly promoted officers and men.
Mohammed said the promotion was in recognition of their dedication, professionalism, commitment and contributions to the Corps.
He urged the promoted officers to see their new ranks not merely as career advancement but as increased responsibility and a renewed call to service.
“To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said, charging them to demonstrate greater commitment, discipline, leadership, accountability and dedication to the statutory responsibilities of the Corps.
The Corps Marshal also urged the officers to uphold the values and ideals of the FRSC and shun indiscipline, bribery, corruption and other unethical practices capable of tarnishing the image of the Corps.
He stressed that interaction with members of the public must be guided by professionalism, courtesy, integrity and fairness.
Mohammed explained that the 2026 promotion exercise was conducted in accordance with established rules and procedures, including assessment through Annual Performance Evaluation Reports (APER), interviews and examinations.
He added that Federal Character and the availability of vacancies within the various ranks were also considered in the exercise.
According to him, not every deserving officer could be promoted at the same time because of limited vacancies in some ranks.
He encouraged officers who were not promoted not to be discouraged, saying promotion was a continuous process and urging them to improve their performance and professional competence in preparation for future opportunities.
The Kaduna Sector Commander of the FRSC, CC Andrew Longkam in his welcome address, commended the management of the Corps for organising the joint decoration ceremony.
He said the joint event demonstrated the harmony and synergy between the Zonal and Sector Commands, which were co-located in Kaduna.
The Sector Commander congratulated the newly promoted officers, describing their success in the examination and promotion exercise as a demonstration of commitment, professionalism and discipline.
He also commended the families of the promoted officers for their sacrifices and support, particularly when the nature of their duties kept them away from home.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Assistant Corps Commander Zainab William expressed appreciation to the management of the Corps, families, friends and invited guests for their support and prayers.
William pledged that the newly promoted officers would justify the confidence reposed in them and discharge their responsibilities with dedication and integrity.
She also urged her colleagues to remember that their new ranks came with greater responsibilities and should therefore be taken seriously.
