Lagos, Aug. 22, 2026 (NAN) The President, Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN), Mr Ayo Ademilua, says Nigeria’s renewable energy industry has sufficient opportunities to accommodate all stakeholders.
Ademilua said the sector was growing rapidly, creating opportunities for developers, investors and other players across the renewable energy value chain.
He said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos.
He spoke on the sidelines of the fifth International Investment and Partnership Conference of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Associations Alliance, in Lagos.
Ademilua urged stakeholders not to view the growing industry as a platform for unhealthy competition.
“The industry in Nigeria is growing at a fast pace, and the opportunities are there for everybody,” he said.
He said the Electricity Act 2023 had provided significant support for the growth of the renewable energy sector.
He said the legislation opened up electricity generation and transmission, while giving states greater powers to regulate their electricity markets.
“This devolution of power enables the states to do whatever they want to do to benefit their people and provide affordable access to clean energy,” he said.
The REAN president said the development had created a wider playing field for renewable energy developers and other stakeholders.
He urged industry players to identify their areas of strength and develop businesses around different segments of the expanding market.
“There are so many corners that we can hone, sit in, trade and operate. We do not need to compete anymore,” he said.
Ademilua said Nigeria’s 36 states, coupled with its large population, presented enormous opportunities for investment and expansion in renewable energy.
He said the industry could accommodate more players if stakeholders remained focused on expanding access to clean and affordable energy.
“For me, it is a big market and the potentials are there now,” he said.
He, therefore, encouraged members of different renewable energy associations to collaborate and take advantage of the opportunities created by the expanding market.
Ademilua said greater participation by private-sector players would contribute to accelerating Nigeria’s transition to clean energy and improving electricity access. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
