2027: YPP affirm candidate for Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam Fed. Constituency

Hon. Wallok Goma, had been affirmed and presented as the candidate of Young Progressives Party (YPP) for Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam(PKK) Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.
Hon. Samson Luka, state party chairman, presented the candidate at the party’s office in Pankshin on Thursday, as a substitute to the former party’s candidate Mrs Rita Suwatkyai.

He explained that, Suwatkyai who was initially the party’s candidate, voluntarily stepped down after due consultation to Goma in the best interest of the party.
Luka said the party chose candidates with good track-records to fly its flags at different levels, noting that they would embark on massive grassroots mobilisation to get the needed support.
According to him, he had confidence in the capacity and integrity of the electoral commission to provide a level playing ground for all candidates at the polls.
“I am optimistic that come 2027, we shall have members in the Senate, House of Representatives, including Goma of PKK Federal Constituency, and State House of Assembly’ he said.
Earlier, Hon. Absolom Sunday led the affirmation of the aspirant in the presence of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, media, and party faithful.
Mrs Jessica Pigera, treasurer, Pankshin Loal Government Area(LGA), moved for adoption of the aspirant while Mr Yilchir Polit, seconded the motion with support from the entire members present.
“I Hon. Absolom Sunday, hereby certify that I am the returning officer of the party’s House of Representatives primary election held Aug. 20, 2026.
“The election was contested and the aspirant received consensus votes. The name of the aspirant is Hon. Wallok Goma, and total votes received was by consensus.
“Here in the presence of all agents, having certified the requirements of the party’s electoral guidance and the law, I hereby declare the aspirant winner and return the candidate” he affirmed.
In his acceptance speech, Goma, former member, Plateau State House of Assembly, Kanke LGA, thanked the party for the opportunity given to him to fly the flag of the party at the general election.
“I want to assure you that I received this task with all sincerity, honesty, and commitment. I will do the best that I can to raise the flag of the party to victory.
“The task is not easy but we believed in the integrity of INEC and support of the good people of PKK in making the right choice as they always do without fear or intimidation” he said.
In a goodwill message, Hon. Gabriel Dewan, minority member Plateau State House of Assembly, and YPP candidate for Pankshin North, congratulated the new candidate and wished the party victory.
He was represented by Mr Yilchir Polit, Personal Assistance to the minority member, Plateau State House of Assembly.
Also, Hon. Gosar Anthony, minority leader Pankshin legislative arm, congratulated the candidate and called for prayers, hardwork, sacrifices and commitment ahead of the general election.
In his closing remark, Hon. Bendyain Yilmunaka, chairman, YPP, Pankshin LGA commended everyone for making the exercise a huge success, he also wishes the party success come 2027.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the affirmation was closely monitored by INEC officials from both state and local government, party’s state executives.
