NGO commissions 40 electric tricycles to Pankshin varsity

An NGO, House of Destiny, in collaboration with the Federal University of Education Pankshin (FUEP), on Friday commissioned 40 electric tricycles to boost transportation.

Commissioning the tricycles on Friday at the institution, the Vice-Chancellor (V-C), Prof. Noel Wannang, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of staff, students, and the community.

“House of Destiny brought a solution to one of the problems we are facing. As the university expands, staff and students are scattered across town due to insufficient accommodation.

“This situation makes the movement of staff and students difficult, which necessitated the introduction of these tricycles.

“This will save time and money, and contribute to an environmentally friendly campus,” Wannang said.

Wannang expressed optimism that the initiative would touch the lives of thousands of people in the university community, enhance productivity and learning, and boost business activities.

He appreciated House of Destiny for the partnership and urged the handlers of the tricycles to manage them well so they could serve the purpose for which they were intended.

Dr Olajumoke Israel, Chief Executive Officer of House of Destiny Global Services, said he was committed to aligning with the vision of the institution for developmental purposes.

According to Israel, he loves working with vision-minded leaders, which is why FUEP became the second institution in the country to benefit from the programme.

“It is our vision to help societies in whatever way we can, and do our best to drive a generational paradigm shift towards a green economy, which is taking place in most of the developed world.

“These tricycles will serve as a source of employment for the youths; our company will make money, the university will make money, and business activities will thrive,” he said.

He promised a continuous partnership with the institution to improve the lives of staff, students, and society in general.

Also at the event, Mrs Silas Marie, the Chief Executive Officer of Ravisa Artis, the firm in charge of the tricycle handlers, commended the V-C’s visionary leadership and developmental drive.

“Today we are gathered not only to celebrate the commissioning of 40 electric tricycles but to celebrate a confirmed vision turning into reality,” Marie said.

According to her, the tricycles are eco-friendly, and their zero emissions and noiseless operation will move the university toward a cleaner, greener, and brighter future.

In his closing remarks, Mr Longtong Yadok, the Registrar of the university, thanked the management of the institution, House of Destiny, and all government officials present for making the event successful.
