Late Chief Mrs. Christiana Opara, mother of the Pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Prof. John Kennedy Opara, peacefully passed on to eternal glory on the 7th of May, 2026, at the age of 83.
Throughout her lifetime, she lived a fulfilled and exemplary life. She was a devout Christian, a God-fearing woman, and a respected community leader who devoted herself to the upliftment of women, children, and the less privileged. Her impact within her community and beyond will remain fondly remembered.
The funeral rites commenced with a Requiem Mass on Wednesday, the 29th of July, 2026, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja. This will be followed by a Night of Praise in her honour on Thursday, the 6th of August, 2026, at Umuopara Nguru Obetiti, Aboh Mbaise, Imo State. The Burial Mass and Interment will take place on Friday, the 7th of August, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Umuopara Nguru ..
She is survived by children, grandchildren, and other relatives, among whom is Prof. John Kennedy Opara, the Pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission and Chairman of CSS Global Integrated Farms, Gora, Nasarawa State.
