The Emir of Gwandu and Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, has described Governor Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) as a respectful, humble and charismatic leader whose style of leadership continues to inspire confidence and accelerate development across Kebbi State.

The Emir made the remarks while receiving the Commissioner for Information and Culture and members of the Governor’s media team at his palace in Birnin Kebbi.

The monarch recalled his long-standing relationship with Governor Idris, noting that the Governor demonstrated uncommon humility and respect for elders long before venturing into partisan politics.

According to the Emir, Governor Idris sought his prayers, guidance and blessings before publicly declaring his intention to contest the governorship election, a gesture he said reflected the Governor’s admirable character.

“The conferment of the prestigious traditional title of Kauran Gwandu on Governor Idris is in recognition of his commitment to the development of the Gwandu Emirate and Kebbi State as a whole,” the Emir said.

He added that Governor Idris has remained consistent in his respect for traditional institutions and in implementing policies that have positively impacted the lives of the people.

The Emir advised Governor Idris to remain focused on delivering good governance despite criticisms, stressing that every committed leader would inevitably face opposition.

He also appealed to the people of Kebbi State to continue supporting the present administration, noting that unity, cooperation and prayers remain essential ingredients for sustainable peace, progress and prosperity.

The royal father further urged residents to safeguard the prevailing peace in the state by respecting constituted authority, promoting discipline and upholding the rule of law.

He commended the Governor’s media team for effectively projecting the achievements of the administration within and outside the state, while offering prayers for Allah’s continued guidance, protection and success for Governor Idris and members of his cabinet.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, said the visit was to pay homage to the Emir of Gwandu and brief the traditional institution on the remarkable achievements recorded under the administration of Governor Nasir Idris.

He said the media team had continued to showcase the Governor’s developmental strides across Kebbi State and beyond, including Abuja and Kano, to ensure that the administration’s accomplishments receive the visibility they deserve.

The Commissioner described the past three years of Governor Idris’ administration as a period of unprecedented transformation, citing major interventions in road construction, education, agriculture, healthcare, solar street lighting and urban renewal.

He observed that Birnin Kebbi has witnessed remarkable infrastructural development, making it comparable to other modern state capitals across the country.

The Commissioner appreciated the unwavering support, guidance and prayers of the Emir of Gwandu and the Emirate Council, acknowledging their vital contributions to the success of the administration.

He appealed for the continued blessings of the traditional institution to enable Governor Nasir Idris to sustain the pace of development for the benefit of all the people of Kebbi State.
