Nasarawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting local content, job creation and industrial growth through the National Brand Development and Made in Nigeria Industrial Project.
Dr Labaran Magaji, Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, stated this on Tuesday in Lafia, while declaring open a one-day training on the foundation, administration, operation, and implementation of the project.
Magaji, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, Office of the SSG, Mr Mohammed Iliyasu-Idde, commended the Directorate of the Made in Nigeria Project and the Nasarawa State Project Office for organising capacity building for personnel.
Magaji reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to creating an enabling environment for local industries, and for indigenous entrepreneurs to compete favourably within Nigeria and beyond.
He described the training as critical to the successful realisation of one of the state government’s strategic economic initiatives.
According to him, the Made in Nigeria project represents the government’s collective commitment to promoting local content, supporting the business sector, creating jobs, and attracting investment.
Magaji noted that the project would position Nasarawa State as a competitive destination for commerce and industry.
“Achieving this objective therefore requires a workforce that is knowledgeable, innovative, accountable and excellent in service delivery.
“This training is deliberately designed to equip participants with the requisite knowledge and practical skills needed to understand the vision, operational framework, identity processes and implementation strategies of the project,” he said.
The SSG noted that as public servants, they have a responsibility to translate government policies into measurable outcomes that would positively impact citizens.
He urged participants to approach the session with an open mind, engage resource persons, and share experiences that can enrich the implementation process.
“The success of the ‘Made in Nasarawa’ project will depend not only on sound policies, but also on our dedication, professionalism, transparency and teamwork in implementing them,” he said.
Earlier speaking, Dr Osulafia Muhammed, Executive Director/ State Coordinator of the Project, said the training was necessary to equip staff and LGA coordinators to better understand approved documents and templates for effective implementation.
He said the project was officially domesticated in Nasarawa in November 2025 by Governor Abdullahi Sule, and since then the state has developed the operational framework and templates now being adopted by other states.
Muhammed explained that the national initiative was built on three pillars to stimulate homegrown industrialisation, promoting local content development and driving inclusive economic growth across the 774 local governments in Nigeria.
He said the project in Nasarawa State would focus on three key sectors, including
agriculture and agro-processing to create export channels for food products and attract foreign direct investment.
Others are Solid Minerals, to partner with companies and brand all mineral resources in the state as Made in Nasarawa and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)and Creative Industry.
“We will collaborate with Nasarawa State Investment Development Agency and relevant ministries to identify, empower and provide market access for SMEs in the state,” he stated.
