Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has on Friday in Birnin Kebbi inaugurated the Governing Council of the Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, seven weeks after dissolving the previous Council due to the unworkable relationship between the Council and University.
The Council would be led by a one time Vice Chancellor of the institutions, Professor M K Abubakar, who would also serve as the Pro-Chancellor, while the Registrar would work as the Council’s Secretary.
The Governor charged the Council to to exhibit high level of commitment while discharging their responsibilities to make the University work again, noting that science and technology are veritable tools for societal growth.
He said he had confidence in the members because of their impeccable pedigree in the society, promising to provide all the necessary support for them to succed.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman and Pro Chancellor, Professor M K Abubakar thanked the Governor for finding them worthy of the appointment, promising to justify the confidence reposed in them.
He said the Council soul have to require the permission of the governor for them to take certain decisions, he therefore appealed to to the State Chief Executive to open his doors and give a listening ear to ease their job.
