The Nasarawa North Senatorial bye-election has received a major boost as the people of Wamba Local Government Area in the zone have expressed readiness to vote for Dr David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming bye-election.
They gave this assurance in Wamba during the PDP campaign tour of wards ahead of the June 20 Senatorial bye-election.
The supporters from 10 wards, comprising women and youth groups, have expressed their resolve to vote for Ombugadu given his achievements while serving in the Green Chamber.
Mrs Hauwa Abdullahi, who spoke with newsmen, called on people to support the PDP candidate, Ombugadu, given his track record and the impactful projects he had executed when he represented the zone at the House of Representatives.
“We are going to vote for him, we believe in him, and he has impacted several lives in this zone. He drilled boreholes for us and facilitated several clinics in this zone. We believe he will do more,” she said.
Nathaniel Danjuma described Ombugadu’s candidature as a perfect replacement for late Sen. Godiya Akwashiki, given their visions for the people of the Nasarawa North Senatorial District.
While in Wamba, Ombugadu earlier paid a homage to Oriye Rindre, Justice Lawal Musa-Nagogo (Rtd) to receive Royal blessings.
He recalled that Musa-Nagogo was instrumental to his success when he contested and won the House of Representatives election in 2011.
According to him, he attracted several projects like borehole, healthcare facilities as well as schools and spread them across the LGA to enhance the quality of life of the zone because of the love the Oriye Rindre have for him.
He assured that if elected to represent them in the senate, he would build on the late Sen. Akwashiki’s achievement to attract more development to the zone.
Ombugadu also promised to attract workable partnerships to develop tourist potentials in Wamba LGA, particularly Farin Ruwa Water Falls, as one of the viable tourist destinations in Africa.
Ombugadu also met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Muslim counterparts, Jamaatul Nasirul (JNI), in Wamba LGA and received prayers for the success of his election.
The Oriye Rindre and Chairman of Council of Chiefs in Wamba LGA, Musa Nagogo, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and other agencies responsible for the conduct of the election to ensure a free, fair and transparent process.
Nagogo underscored a level playing field for all candidates involved in the bye election and noted that the electorates were the determining factors in deciding the winner of any election.
He urged Ombugadu to follow the footsteps of late Sen. Godiya Akwashiki, whose representation at the Senate attracted development to the people of Wamba LGA and prayed for a hitch-free bye-election.
The Ombugadu campaign train, which visited several electoral wards, including Konvah, Wayo, Wamba and Wamba West electoral wards, among others, was welcomed by a large number of supporters and well-wishers.
