2027: Adamawa PDP unveils Maurice Vunoboki as governorship candidate for general election

The Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State has endorsed Chief Maurice Vunolboki as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

This decision was reached unanimously at a party congress held at popular Ribadu Square Yola, through delegates from all the 21 local government areas in attendance. This was followed through the united party officials consultations from the grassroots.

The Chairman of the electoral committee, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, presided over the adoption after a motion was moved and seconded. He declared Vunoboki the official flag bearer of the PDP for the 2027 polls.

The peaceful process of the exercciae was witnessed and supervised by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and senior party stakeholders. Their presence was aimed at us ensuring compliance of and due process of the electoral guidelines.

The PDP state acting chairman, Mr. Belmond Dogo, told the supporters that all local government acting chairmen and stakeholders had earlier agreed on Vunoboki as the sole candidate. He said the congress was convened to formally ratify and announce the decision.

Dogo reaffirmed that the adoption was the outcome of several meetings across the state aimed at building consensus ahead of the 2027 elections. He described the process as peaceful and orderly.

Vunoboki, identified as a member of Abdulraman Mohammad PDP bloc, secured the backing of party structures across the state. Delegates said the adoption reflected a unified position within the party.

Before the announcement, party officials said the adoption would allow the PDP to begin early mobilization and campaign planning in Adamawa. They expressed confidence that the consensus would strengthen the party’s position ahead of 2027.

The state INEC officials confirmed that the exercise was conducted in line with the party’s constitution and electoral regulations. Stakeholders present said the transparent process would help reduce internal disputes.

Now that Vunobolki is on board as candidate, the PDP is expected to intensify outreach across Adamawa all 21 local government areas. Party leaders said the focus would be on consolidating support and presenting a united front for the governorship election.
