NSCDC Boss : Cultural Values, Youth Empowerment Key to Nigeria’s Security

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has emphasized that Nigeria’s security goes beyond weapons and tactics, stressing the importance of rebuilding trust, nurturing youths, and reviving cultural values. According to him, the nation’s rich cultural heritage, rooted in discipline, respect, communal solidarity, and patriotism, must serve as a foundation for sustainable security.
The NSCDC boss delivered a compelling presentation at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Exercise Haske Biyu 2025, highlighting the critical role of community engagement in preventing security breaches linked to youth misguidance. His paper, themed “Community Engagement and National Security: Preventing Security Breaches Linked to Youth Misguidance,” underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between security agencies, community leaders and citizens in guiding young people and protecting them from radicalization. By fostering stronger community ties and promoting cultural values, the NSCDC aims to enhance national security and prevent youth misguidance .
Prof. Audi called on leaders, families, and citizens to collaborate with security agencies in guiding young people and protecting them from criminal exploitation. “The security of our nation goes beyond weapons and tactics; it is also about rebuilding trust, nurturing our youths, and reviving the cultural values that once made our communities resilient,” he emphasized.
The NSCDC boss reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to people-driven security, intelligence-led operations, and inclusive civic partnerships that enhance peace, stability, and national development. By working together, Nigerian communities can become stronger allies in protecting critical national assets and fostering lasting peace.
