The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Zone ‘B’ Headquarters, Kaduna, on Thursday held a decoration ceremony for newly promoted senior officers from across the zone, in what was described as a celebration of dedication, discipline, and exemplary service.
Speaking at the event, the Zonal Coordinator, ACG Nsika Umoh, described the promotion as a product of merit, not chance.
She stated that promotion in service is never accidental, but the result of officers being tested and found worthy in character, competence, and commitment.
“It is an affirmation that your dedication and hard work toward the growth of the nigeria customs service and the nation have not gone unnoticed,” she said.
While congratulating the officers, ACG Umoh reminded them that higher ranks come with higher responsibilities.
She urged them to carry the weight of leadership with humility, courage, and vision, maintaining exemplary conduct, unwavering integrity, and steadfast professionalism.
“Leadership is not a privilege it is service,” she emphasized.
She said “Let your new ranks inspire you to mentor others, strengthen the image of the service, and contribute to building a Customs Service that is modern, transparent, and people focused.”
She also extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the Comptroller General of Customs and the management team, acknowledging the often unseen sacrifices and prayers of their families.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Comptroller Aminu Sule of the Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘B’, noted that the decoration follows the Nigeria Customs Service Board meeting of Sept. 2, 2025, which approved the promotion of 3,312 officers nationwide.
“This ceremony is not just about new insignia it is a recognition of the sacrifices, professionalism, and integrity of those who continue to serve this nation with passion,” he said.
He described the elevation as both a reward and a call to higher duty under the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, urging officers to uphold the core values of transparency, patriotism, and excellence.
“To those who were not promoted this time, this is not a denial of your worth. Your time is coming. Redouble your efforts, because perseverance always prevails,” Sule added.
Among those decorated were six peputy comptrollers elevated to Comptroller of Customs,
16 Assistant Comptrollers promoted to deputy comptroller, and 28 Chief superintendents of customs moved up to Assistant comptroller.
