The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has condemned in the strongest possible terms the horrific attack and rape of Judith Ojonugwa Matthew, a respected Sickle Cell Advocate and content creator. The Ministry has pledged to stand firmly with Judith and every survivor of gender-based violence, ensuring justice prevails and support is provided throughout her healing journey.

According to a press release signed by Ayodele Olawandemade, Honourable Minister of youth development and made available to Aluta News on Wednesday in Abuja,
the Ministry has taken immediate action to support Judith. The Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Gender Matters, Kehinde Awujoola was swiftly dispatched to the hospital to offer support, and the Ministry has activated all relevant mechanisms, including the Nigerian Youth Help Desk, where Judith’s statement was formally taken.

The Ministry has outlined a comprehensive support package for Judith, including secure shelter and basic necessities, swift investigation and prosecution, and psychological counseling and trauma support services. This package aims to ensure Judith’s safety and well-being, expedite justice, and provide her with the necessary support to heal.

Minister Olawande has extended a powerful message of support to Judith, emphasizing that the attack was not her fault. “Your pain is valid, your voice matters, and you are not alone,” the Minister assured. “We are here, and the Ministry is with you — unwavering in support.”

The Ministry says it remains resolute in its fight against gender-based violence, with Minister Olawande stating that “justice will not be delayed, and our commitment will not waver.” This stance sends a strong message that such heinous crimes will not be tolerated, and perpetrators will be held accountable.
