The Peace Corps of Nigeria has thrown its weight behind the National Conference on Peace Education and Cultural Reorientation, organized by the Nigerian National Commission for UNESCO in collaboration with the UNESCO Office in Abuja.

Representing the National Commandant, Dr. Dickson A. O. Akoh, Deputy National Commandant Dr. Mohammed Kabiru Mohammed delivered a goodwill message at the conference, which held on June 25-26, 2025, at Jemmyland Hotel, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

Dr. Mohammed emphasized that sustainable peace cannot be legislated, but rather cultivated through education, moral, civic, and cultural reorientation. He noted that the Peace Corps of Nigeria has been empowering young Nigerians to become ambassadors of peace, tolerance, and national cohesion through its peace education programs.

The Deputy National Commandant stressed the importance of promoting values that foster mutual respect, understanding, and empathy. He commended the organizers for prioritizing peace education and cultural reorientation as a proactive approach to building a peaceful and united Nigeria.

The Peace Corps of Nigeria’s efforts to empower young Nigerians align perfectly with the conference’s objectives. By working together, stakeholders can promote a culture of peace, tolerance, and understanding that will benefit the nation.

Aluta News reports that the two days conference is a significant step towards promoting peace education and cultural reorientation in Nigeria. With the Peace Corps’ support, the initiative is poised to make a positive impact on the nation’s quest for peace and unity.
