The Renewed Hope Innovative Special Investment Programme Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS) has provided financial support to 250 elderly citizens aged 65 and above across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State during its second edition.

Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani, the First Lady of Kaduna State, was represented by the State Commissioner for Business Innovation, Mrs. Patience Fakai, at the event.

She delivered the message of the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, highlighting the theme of this year’s initiative: “Total Wellness: Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous Lifestyle.”

In her address, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that the program is designed to annually support the welfare of elderly citizens across the country.

According to her, this year, the governing board of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) decided to increase the grant from N100,000 to N200,000 per beneficiary to provide additional support during the festive season.

She said ,a total of N1.9 billion will be disbursed nationwide as part of the scheme, with each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) receiving N50 million.

The funds will benefit not only elderly citizens but also veterans from the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Associations (DEPOWA).

In addition to the financial grant, beneficiaries will also receive free medical check-ups and other sundry items to support their well-being.

Mrs. Tinubu commended the contributions of the states’ First Ladies, RHI coordinators, and partners for ensuring the program’s success.

She urged the senior citizens to prioritize their health, exercise, rest, and spend quality time with loved ones during the festive season.

“I congratulate all the senior citizens who have been selected as beneficiaries. Celebrate this season in good health and do what brings you joy,” she concluded.

The RHIESS initiative continues to reflect the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of elderly citizens across Nigeria.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Florence Andrew, expressed profound appreciation for the support extended to the elderly.

In an interview, she shared her gratitude, saying, “I feel so happy. I have been receiving support before, but today’s assistance makes me feel privileged and honored. I pray that God will bless them richly.”

Mrs. Andrew also prayed for the success of the Renewed Hope Initiative under the leadership of the First Lady, calling on God to help them implement their plans for the benefit of humanity.
