The Coalition of Former Young Presidential Aspirant and Candidate of eighteen political party has demanded for forty percent appointment from every presidential candidate for the 2023 general election.

Dr Nicholas Felix, convener of the coalition and a former APC presidential aspirant said this while addressing newsmen in Abuja.

Felix said the country was at a very crucial moment and as such must do everything possible to elect a president that would fix its economy and ensure young Nigerians were elected and appointed into leadership positions.

“Youths must begin to get involved from top to bottom and before you know it, we will have taken key, strategic and impactful positions in government to cause a paradigm shift in the scheme of things in governance and the political space.

“Another political dispensation is in the offing and our goal is to see to it that young, vibrant and visionary Nigerians make-up a huge percentage of the incoming government.

“Who will win the ballot? I can’t say for certain, but what is visible to all is that so far, the odds seem be in favour of three leading candidates and come May 29 next year, one of them will take over from President Muhammadu Buhari.

“The purpose of this group is not to make selfish and personal gains, but rather to ensure the youth of this country are fully represented at every levels.

“Please note, we rise by lifting others, not by bringing others down and that is why I can boldly recommend anyone of the young Presidential candidates or Aspirant for any position,” Felix said.

According to him, the 2019 general election witnessed less violence because of the involvement of lots of young presidential candidates who the youths saw as representing their interests.

Felix explained that their hopes and dreams appeared to be dashed after the 2019 election but that the dream was still very much alive.

“As we continue this journey, we may feel overwhelmed, we may get hit by the media, we may get hit by other candidates, we may even get attacked by the very youths we are representing, but
I want each and everyone of us to understand that this is beyond us, this is for even generations yet unborn, this is for those that may have felt our leaders have failed them.

We are not here to become rebels, we are not saying we hate our leaders, fall from it, we are here to support them in this course ensuring good governance. we are just like the young man in the Bible who asked the father to give him the portion that belongs to him, his father didn’t hesitate, rather gave him.

To our political leaders all we are saying is to get the youths involve not just during election but after election.

We want youth inclusiveness, we want youth as, Governors, Ministers, Heads of parastatals, Senators, house of Rep members local government chairmen and chairperson and much more

We will no longer continue to wait till we become president before we fix our fatherland. Destiny beckons on us all, history beckons, and we must grab the bull by the horns! Let the national assembly be filled up with youths, to make laws that are in tardem with modern time, let the next crop of ministers be youths, down to governors, lawmakers in state assemblies and councilors and local government chairmen, let the youth take over and build the nation we want for our children and generations unborn.
