SPPG HANDSOVER ELECTRONIC TRAINING MODULES TO FEMA

The FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has promised to accord priority to building the capacity of it’s personnel to enhance their effectiveness.
The Director General of FEMA, Alhaji Abbas Idriss stated this while receiving electronic training modules from members of the school of politics, policy and governance,(SPPG), led by it’s group coordinator Mr Mfoniso Umoh at the conference hall of the Agency in Abuja.
Represented by the Director Finance and Accounts, Mr Mohammed Sabo, Idriss informed that FEMA was leveraging on Information and Communication Technology to tackle disasters in the FCT.
“Fire incidences, building collapse. Both human and natural hazards, we deal with the situation through enlightenment, relying on forecast by NIMET. We are working towards avoiding disaster using information and communication Technology to tackle global warming, leveraging on ICT to mitigate disasters in the FCT”.
He promised to utilize the training modules in the training operations of the Agency.
Handing over the electronic training modules to FEMA, Mr Mfoniso Umoh explained that the school of politics, policy and governance is a community impact project aimed at positioning MDA’s for effective service delivery, strengthen and enhance the civil service as well as revolutionize the political landscape of Nigeria.
He informed that the school carried out a needs assessment of the training requirements of FEMA and came up with 6 modules to serve the needs of the Agency.
They include fundamentals of training, work ethics and organisational structures, emotional intelligence for first responders, public service rules, camp coordination and camp management among others.
According to Umoh the training would position FEMA as a forward thinking organisation with the capability to lead government change. He added that a website was created for the agency to enable staff access the training modules.
In a vote of thanks, Assistant Director Admin, Mr AA Kadiri said the project was dear to the heart of the DG and appreciated the school for the initiative.
In a closing remark, the Acting Director Admin, Mr Shehu Haiba assured that all the training modules will be implemented inline with the Agency’s training guidelines.
The school carried out a demonstration on how to access the training modules through the website.
Recall that the school of politics,policy and governance had visited FEMA on the 4th of July 2022 to request for approval for a pilot project of the E learning in FEMA.
