The 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue state, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia has distanced himself from a statement credited to one Mr. Aondona Mkor where it is alleged that he (Alia) confided in him how he prayed for and healed of a certain intractable ailments of one Torkwase Alaaga.
This is contained in a statement by Kula Tersoo,Head of Communication ,Alia 2023.
According to Fr Alia,I have been a servant in the vineyard of God for not less than 32 years. I have worked and associated with the destitute, sick, aged and afflicted.
” I have never been accused of divulging any information from these class of people I have identified and worked closely to help as my calling demands.
“Is it not curious that it is at this time that I have joined partisan politics to contribute my quota to the development of the state that such baseless lie is manifesting? He queried.
He lamented what partisan politics have done to the society questioning also what anyone would want to benefit from promoting “any falsified claims on my person, character, reputation or professionalism”.
He stated clearly that Aondona Mkor is not his aide and as such has no mandate to speak for him adding that Mkor as an adult should be responsible for whatsoever he does or say in the public insisting also that, “whoever is making falsity here to score any cheap political point owes me a public apology”, he said.
He said since Mkor offered appropriate disclaimer, “it takes care of my integrity. I still strongly advice that everyone writing anything relating to me should appreciate my hard earned name and manage my image with greater decorum,”Fr Alia said.
