Helpline foundation sets to co-host Africa women conference in Morocco

Helpline foundation for the needy Abuja, the Co-Convener of Africa Women Conference, says it has concluded arrangement to host the 3rd edition of Africa Women Conference (AWC), in Morocco between Nov. 21 to 23, 2019.
President of the foundation, Dr Jumai Ahmadu, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on the upcoming African Women Conference, on Sunday in Abuja.
She said that aimed of the conference was to set agendas and viable options through which stakeholders in the African polity could channel the various resources available to African women towards the sustainable development of the continent.
Ahmadu also said that the conference was to consolidate on the gains of previous editions aimed at building Africa where every woman’s potential would be fully harnessed for the growth and development of the continent.
She maintained that the conference would provides a platform for African women from the formal and non-formal sectors of the economy to deliberate on and adopt action plans that would deliver rapid growth and development in Africa.
According to her, the conference was an initiative of Helpline Foundation for the Needy Abuja, in collaboration with the Echoes Africa Initiatives, New York.
Ahmadu added that the third edition was being organised in partnership with the International Centre for Diplomacy Morocco.
She restated the determination of the foundation to continue to provide relief and economic empowerment for the less privileged in the society.
“The AWC was borne out of the realisation that the 2030 target set for the Sustainable Development Goals as adopted by the United Nations in 2015 cannot be achieved without the commitment, inclusion and collective action of women at the national, regional and global level.
“The annual AWC is one of the most important annual gatherings of experts, institutions, corporate organizations and individuals promoting the growth, stability and development of African women.”
Ahmadu revealed that renowned speakers from the continent had been selected to speak on diverse economic issues bordering on women and to revitalise the global partnerships for sustainable development.
She said Dr Aicha Lemtouni and other intellectuals would be on ground for mentorship discussions, alongside other experienced panelists who focus on best options for women to play active roles in ensuring Africa achieves each of the 17 SDGs by the year 2030.
Ahmadu expressed hope that the conference would bring women of African descent together to learn fresh ideas that could help increase their influence and productivity in their different fields of endeavor.
She also said that the conference would provide a platform for Africa focused businesses, philanthropies and investors outside Africa to meet and forge alliances with African female entrepreneurs, policy makers and influencers and professionals to grow their businesses.
She listed those expected to attend the conference from Nigeria are Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu and business leaders with interest in the African economy from all across Africa and the diaspora.
