Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, the Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), on Thursday in Abuja advised the entire staff of the authority to work harder with commitment toward advancing national development.
Yadudu gave the advice during a retirement sendoff ceremony of Alhaji Sani Mahmud, Airport Manager of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA).
The managing director, who further urged the staff to ensure that their outputs were error free all the time, stated that such a move would make things better for any staff who adheres to the guidelines.
“Thank you as we celebrate one of our very important officers. This is the day that officially takes the Airport Manager, NAIA, to retirement.
“Thank God for the successful retirement of the Airport Manager, who is devoted and faithful to his responsibility in the airport.
“The same message is what we keep sending to all management and Heads of Departments to be hard- working. Don’t say I have worked for 30 years. One error in a day can undermine your faith or legacy,” he said.
Mr Robinson Baazo, General Manager of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) at NAIA, described Mahmud as humble, intelligent and a gentleman.
He noted that NAMA and FAAN enjoyed working together at NAIA during his tenure as there was tremendous improvement in safety and security.
“He has good relationship with NAMA. I want to appreciate him for making the airport to function effectively.
“He is proactive; we find our work easy as a sister agency in the airport. He is retired but I know he is not tired,“ he said.
Speaking, Mr Abdulmalik Jibreel, Airport Station Manager of Aero contractors, further described Mahmud as the excellent and brilliant Airport Manager, who solved seemingly difficult situations with ease.
“He is the best manager we have had so far. We are going to miss him. His service is excellent. He is a problem solver. We need a leader like him at the airport when a problem arises.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Mahmud was employed by FAAN as personal Officer II on March 10, 1987.
He had served FAAN as General Manager, Airfield; Regional General Manager, North Central, Airport Manager, NAIA, and retired on March 10, 2022.
