In a move seen as a boost to the Peace Corps of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Dickson Akoh, the National Commandant of the organization, to the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Babura, Jigawa State.

Dr. Akoh will serve alongside other distinguished members, including Prof. John Eno, who will chair the council, as well as Jennifer Peter-Audu, Umma Abdullahi Gesto, and Apostle Sanyolu.

The inauguration and retreat for the council members are scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31, 2024, at the National University Commission in Abuja.

This appointment is seen as a significant recognition of the Peace Corps’ contributions to national development and a positive indication of the support the organization will receive under the Tinubu administration.

The Peace Corps of Nigeria is a youth-based organization focused on promoting peace, security, and community development. Dr. Akoh’s appointment is expected to bring his expertise and experience to bear on the university’s governance and development.

Reacting to the appointment, a spokesperson for the Peace Corps expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the recognition and pledged the organization’s continued commitment to serving the nation.
