Benue Govt unveils activities to mark independence celebration

The Benue State Government has outlined some activities to commemorate the 63rd Independence of Nigeria on1st October,2023.

The activities as approved by the Executive Governor of Benue State,His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia PhD and released in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) ,Prof Joseph Alakali, are as follows:

Friday 29th September,2023:
There will be Juma’a Islam prayers at the Muslim Central Mosque, Wadata, Makurdi, Benue State. Time: 3:00pm

On Saturday 30th September,2023: There will be a symposium on Nigeria’s 63rd Independence. The symposium will take place at the New Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, Benue State. Time: 10:00 am to 12 Noon.

The statement further says on Sunday first October,there will be a State broadcast featuring the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia PhD. Time: 7:40-8:10 am.

Also there will be a live NTA appearance and discussion series by Gov. Alia PhD. Time: 8:30am to 9:00am.

There after the Governor will join the Benue State Christian Community for an interdenominational church service at Benue State Methodist Cathedral,South Bank, Wadata Makurdi, Benue State. Time: 10:00am to 12:00Noon.

There after the Governor will close the day by attending a dinner organized by the Benue State Goverment for the Benue people especially the State Executive Council members, Political leaders, the Academia, the Business Community and the Organised Private Sector at New Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, Benue State. Time: 6:00 pm.

He noted however that attendance to the event is strictly by invitation.
