Union awards scholarship to 46 students

Amangwu Development Union (ADU), has said that no fewer than 46 students will benefit from the 2023 Amangwu Tertiary and Secondary School Scholarships Programme.

The Chairman, Scholarship Committee of the programme, Amb. Chibuzo Okereke announced this in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday in Abuja.

He said the union has a mandate to inspire stakeholders’ actions towards resource mobilisation for development.

He also said that the union has a mandate to discuss veritable ways and means to deepen the socio-economic, infrastructural and political development trajectory of the people Amangwu community in Abia.

“A total of 11 Amangwu Students comprising of four males and seven females, will receive the university level scholarship.

“A total of 35 students comprising of 15 males and 20 females, will receive the secondary school levels scholarships,” he said.

He explained said that the scholarship programme is sponsored by UgwuAro, Mazi Emma Kanu-Ivi; Mazi Frederick Eze Foundation and Mazi David Ukachukwu, amongst others.

Okereke commended the leadership of the union, headed by its President-General, Mazi Kanu Iroegbu and the benefactors who made the programme possible.

He thus commended members of the screening committee, who worked professionally to deliver the task of selecting the awardees.

“We thank the leadership and members of the various Sub-Committees for the incredible work done and love for the development of Amangwu.

“To the awardees, we congratulate you all and enjoin you to be good ambassadors of Amangwu and your various institutions.

“We look forward to receiving more donors who will be willing to sponsor more people.

“The Amangwu in our vision, is one where everyone has the opportunity to attain their educational dreams.

“We work together to lift others to thrive, flourish, succeed, and give back for the socio-economic, infrastructure, and cultural development of Amangwu,” he said.
