By Bridget Ikyado
The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has promised to announce members of the Benue State executive council in a number of days.
Governor Alia made the promise Tuesday, July 25, 2023 while speaking at the 2023 National Convention/Mega Reunion of St.James Minor Seminary Old Boys’ Association (SAJSOBA) held at the school premises along Yandev-Makurdi road.
Recall that the Benue State Governor is yet to announce commissioners, Special Advisors and Principal Aides, most of whom form part of the state executive council.
Governor Alia said he understood fully well, since he came into governance that there were tall expectations from Benue people, but where his administration started was not good, the economy and everything about the state was quite deplorable.
He, however, expressed the confidence that his administration will bring back the lost glory of the state.
Governor Alia continued that, they were under two full months but the new administration has already paid salaries for two months and that the salary for the month of July will begin to drop today.
The Governor who felt proud to have sprung from St. James Minor Seminary, thanked the church for the formation she gave them, stressing that once the Church inculcates in someone the discipline, the teachings, and the morality, it stays with them for life.
He acknowledged that he is in partisan politics as a priest, he prays everyday to work as a priest, and to leave the seat as a priest, even as he extended invitation to the church as a corporate body to see what she can do to better the lot of the state.
Earlier in his welcome address, the National President of SAJSOBA, Godwin Kave thanked the governor and other Old boys of the school for gracing the occasion.
He expressed joy that St. James Minor Seminary, Yandev has produced two governors for the state in persons of Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu and now Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and called on Old and new Students to continue to support in any way they can to keep their alma mater going.
