Port Harcourt, June 28, 2023 – Andoni local government chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers on Wednesday welcomed over 200 decampees from various political parties into it’s fold.

and urged them join hands in straightening the party at the grassroots.

Represented by Vice Chairman of the chapter, Mr Titus Jonse, the chairman assured decampees of equal opportunities in the party while also urging them to identify with the party’s programs and ideaologies.

The party Chairman however, advised the new members not to allow themselves to be mislead by selfish individuals or group who do not mean well for the party and the area council.

According to him, such individuals parade themselves as leaders with the intent of breeding bad blood amongst members and causing unwarranted rancour and division in the party.

“Erastus Awortu, the Council Chairman, is the authentic leader of our Party in Andoni, I urge you all to feel free to confirm matters that may seem contrary to the growth of our great party and I assure you that your doubts will be cleared,” he said

One of the defectors, Mr Ezekiel Warigbani, a former governorship candidate of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance said that he decided to join the PDP because of its present administrstive status which is entirely people oriented.

“When an Administrator begins to demonstrate those qualities you’ve always yearned for, the best decision is join force with such leader to enable him achieve more.

“Of course, the council Chairman, Awortu who is also the party leader at the grassroots is a dynamic and people oriented leader who has demonstrated love by giving back to the people who trusted him with their votes.

“His administration has restored peace in waring communities and now we freely go about our legitimate businesses a situation that was almost impossible before he came on board two years ago.

“My community, Egbomung was about the first beneficiary of his developmental strides which subsequently spread to the entire wards of Andoni,” he said.

Also, Miss Atisi Clifford who left African Democratic Congress thanked the PDP for accepting the decampees.

According to her, joining the PDP was a stepping stone in her political aspirations.

“PDP symbolized coverage, I’m happy to be part of this new family that I’ve found and I pledge absolute loyalty to the party,” she added.
