Global Fund grant to mitigate the scourge of AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria diseases. The state’s Programme Officer, Mr Peter Ezekiel, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
on Monday in Kaduna.
He said the five areas benefitting from the grant are; Zaria, Igabi, Kaduna North, Kaduna South and Chikun, adding that the areas would access the RSSH-C19RM Grant being implemented by Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN).
He added that “the RSSH-C19RM grant would reach out to these LGAs with 15 CBOs engaged in the implementation of programmes to tackle AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (ATM).
“From inception of the project, a lot has been achieved, and the communities are happy for all the support the project has brought to them.”
He explained that the programme is using the Community-Led Approach which requires communities to identify and solve their problems using Issue-Based Advocacy Approach inspired by the CBOs.
“The project is anchored on the goal of developing community health facilities, which include getting the community to conduct advocacy to provide new Microscope, Chairs for Waiting Clients, Office Tables for staff, Rehabilitation of Water facilities, fixing leaking Ceiling among many achievements.“The project, which has made tremendous impact, is coming at a time when it is most important for the communities and residents.
“Health is key, so building sustainable infrastructure is important to managing healthy communities,” he explained.
The project is to support government by inspiring community action to issues bothering communities, especially health matters.
