Customs Port Harcourt Area 1 generates over N28.5b from Jan.- March 2023

Port Harcourt, April 20, 2023 – The Nigerian Customs Service, Area 1 Command in Port Harcourt, Rivers, said it has generated over N28.5b amounting to a total sum of N28,507,808,031.00 between Jan. and March 2023.

Area Commander, Comptroller Cheidi Wada, during a media briefing on Thursday in Port Harcourt said that comparing the figure to the 2022 revenue, the command has so far recorded a 23 per cent increase in revenue during the period under review.

The Comptroller noted that the command’s revenue as at 2022 between Jan. and March stood at N23,146,320,043.00 also confirmed an over N5b increase for the first three months of 2023 having realised as much as over N28.5b as at March .

He also noted that the N5b revenue increase recorded so far indicated a 23 per cent revenue rise as at March 2023.

The Comptroller also said that the command recorded 119 interventions between January and March 2023 leading to the recovery of N582,576,341.00 as against 373,762,301.00 from 91 interventions recorded between Jan. and March 2022.

He however, attributed the command’s achievements to robust synergy with sister agencies, consigners, ports operators as well as other stakeholders in the maritime business.

The Comptroller therefore, promised to ensure continued transparency and standard to boost the ease of doing business at the Port Harcourt Port.
