The International Studies Alumni Association of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, is celebrating the institution’s Diamond Jubilee with a public lecture.

Alhaji Abdullahi Shuaibu, the National Public Relations Officer of the association, disclosed this in a statement issued in Zaria.

Shuaibu said the public lecture, which is also part of ABU’s 42nd Convocation Ceremony, was organised by the association in collaboration with the university’s Department of Political Science and International Studies.

He added that the public lecture, titled:“Nigeria: Character Builds A Nation, Dignity Transforms It”, would be delivered by an alumnus of the university, Prof. Adebayo Olukoshi, on Tuesday, January 24 in Zaria.

According to him, Olukoshi holds a first class degree in International Studies from ABU, Zaria (1982), and a Doctorate in Politics from Leeds University, United Kingdom.

He said Olukoshi is currently a researcher and distinguished professor at Wits School of Governance, University of Witswaterstrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

He added that Olukoshi has more than 35 years of experience in the field of international relations, political economy, democracy, governance and human rights.

It will recalled that on Dec. 20, 2022, the association paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Kabiru Bala, the Vice Chancellor of the university, on fostering collaboration efforts.

During the visit, the association donated books to the Department of Political Science and International Studies and also pledged to upgrade the e-library of the department as part of the association’s efforts to give back to its alma mater.

ABU has slated Jan. 28 for its 42nd Convocation and Diamond Jubilee celebration.
