The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Haj Idris Isah Jere has lamented the pressure being put on the service system by Nigerians frequently changing their biodata.

Jere, who made the disclosure in an exclusive
interview with Flowerbudnews in Abuja, said that the big pressure and challenge to the service was now from people wanting to change their biodata, especially, date of birth and names.

”It is like some Nigerians are born more than three times,” the Immigration Boss remarked,

He said that to Check-mate abuse, the Immigration Service ensured that all changes to a passport holder’s biodata was done only from the NIS Headquarters in Abuja.

”All these changes of data for just no reason are met with strict verification as much as possible,” to eliminate possible abuse, the Immigration Boss told Flowerbudnews.

”After satisfying the requirements, we have no choice but to issue,” Jere stated.

The Comptroller General explained that the only exception permitted for NIS Zonal or State offices to handle were change of names due to marriage.

The Immigration Boss assured that pressure on passport processing and issuance would soon reduce drastically with the additional five biometric capturing centres being built by the immigration service across the country.
