The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC in Benue State for the 2023 general elections, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has distributed packs of fertilizer to some members of selected support groups to enable them boost their farm yields.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Isaac Uzaan,Media Aide to Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Alia on Tuesday

The first phase of the distribution which was done Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Fr. Alia’s residence at New GRA, Makurdi featured fifty (50) out of the many groups that are working tirelessly to ensure that Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia emerge the winner at the 2023 polls.

The APC chairman of Kwande local government, Hon Terdoo Kenti and Sixtus Agbanyi who made the distribution on behalf of Fr. Alia, lamented the lack of policy instrument from the state government to make fertilizer available and affordable for farmers and an epileptic salary policy which now left small scale farmers in the state groaning in despair .

They said this was because  they could no longer cope with the price spikes for fertilizer to boost their farm yields.

They also said the high cost of commodities has made commercial fertilizer out of reach for farmers, expressing the hope of the APC candidate to extend the gesture to more groups across the state.

Those who received the fertilizer on behalf of their groups expressed happiness over the kind gesture.

He described it as special intervention that is timely as this is coming at a time most farmers can no longer afford fertilizers for their farms.
