The Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, His Grace Henry Ndukuba has called on men to perform their role courageously as heads of families to overcome current challenges.
Ndukuba, who made the call during the First Supra-North Executive Convention held in Abuja on Monday, also called for sustained prayers for the nation.
The theme of the convention is ”Be Strong and Courageous.”
Quoting Joshua 1: 1-9, he said only men who are courageous and have trust in God will be able to perform their fatherly roles in this challenging time.
“The times we are leaving in, which God has called you and me to be fathers, men and leaders is a very challenging time.
”Everything we hold so dearly, culturally and traditionally are eroded.
“Every sector of our nation: education, finance, the ports and security is affected.
”So, we need to pray for the incoming administration as it may not be easy,” he said.
Ndukuba prayed God to steer the hearts of the men at the conference to recover their sense of calling so as to know God, love and serve him, as well as cherish his word.
Prof. Jerry Gana, a former Minister and Pro-Chancellor, University of Lagos, urged Nigerians to build united families, so as to be more powerful, productive and have the strength to face every aspect of life.
”In times like this, our unity has become very necessary and vital. But how do we generate and sustain unity, how do we build up strength and vitality?
”We must all be in Christ Jesus as our personal saviour and Lord; be filled with the Holy Spirit, be thoroughly transformed and let the word of Christ dwell in us.
”We must cultivate integrity, pray without ceasing and be an effective witness and allow brotherly love continue in our lives, as love is a powerful force in building trust and unity in fellowship,” Gana said.
The Chaplain, Men’s Fellowship, Province of Abuja, Rt. Rev. Godwin Adeyi, in his goodwill message, reiterated the need for the participants to live courageously for the kingdom in all matters of life.
The event was attended by representatives of the Anglican Men’s Fellowship from 19 states in the North.
