Commercial activities begin ahead of NUGA games

Commercial activities are beginning to pick up at the University of Lagos Sports Centre ahead of Saturday’s opening of the 2022 Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dozens of hawkers of souvenirs, food and drinks, sportswears and other clothing items have taken positions at the Unilag Sports Centre venue of the games.

NUGA games, which commenced on March 16, will end on March 26, 2022.

Some of the traders told NAN that it was their first time of witnessing the games.

Rachel Adebambo, who trades in ready to wear materials, said that this was her first time coming to trade at the NUGA games.

Adebambo added that the development would also give her an opportunity to watch some of the games that would be played in the Unilag Sports Centre arena.

“ Actually, this is my first time to participate in this kind of event.

“So far, the turnout has not been encouraging but I believe the situation will eventually change when the events is in top gear,” she said.

Zane Zino, dealer in different types of jean material, said this was not her first time of trading in the NUGA games.

She said she hope that this edition would be like every other editions.

Tosin Ogundero, dealer in different types of kitchen utensils, also said that he hoped this edition would be like other ones.

“I hope we all enjoy this game and also make much sales, because for now the patronage is not encouraging,” he said.

Charles John, dealer in different types of shoes amd sneakers, complained about the fees being charged for trading space by organusers of the game.

He noted that he was a regular trader at every NUGA games but Lagos payment was a bit high.
