Cooperative group to bridge unemployment, skills gap in FCT

A new cooperative group in the FCT, Adashi Indigenous Investment, has pledged to focus on providing support to bridge unemployment and skills gaps in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mr Adekunle Adegbuwagun, the Managing Director of the cooperative, said this in an interview with the Aluta news on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that the focus was to encourage self-reliance in the society.

Adegbuwagun said that the group would encourage healthy savings culture and investments in reliable businesses.

“Adashi is innovative, flexible, reliable and accessible; it encourages entrepreneurship at all levels,’’ he said.

He said that this would support business start-ups, finance existing businesses and investments.

According to Adegbuwagun, the cooperative is opened to civil servants and all members of the society to enable them save for the education of their children and other family needs.

He explained that the cooperative had three major saving schemes for businesses, lifestyle and investment.

“The business saving is designed for young entrepreneurs, who are ready to venture into the world of business and also for those who are already established business entrepreneur who are saving to expand.

“The lifestyle savings is designed to support the lifestyle of individuals, who wish to save for their first car, wedding, school fees, house rent, new set of clothes and electronic gadget.

“However, the investment savings will have agreed terms on generated income or appreciation on item or asset acquired,’’ he said.

The managing director said that the cooperative would offer flexible terms to its enrolees.

“We are flexible, we can meet the needs of our customers; we are ready to train and provide opportunity for our customers including mentoring them, opening their eyes to all opportunities in their businesses.’’

Mr Jeremiah Agala, the Executive Director, Adashi investment said the group had been registered by the FCT Administration to offer efficient and affordable world class financial services to small and medium scale businesses and individuals.

The executive director said their mission were to set out to providing and with the vision to be the most innovative cooperative savings and investment.

He said that the society was founded on a core belief of providing high quality and affordable lifestyle with ease of payment.
