Ogun Police Command on Wednesday arrested a couple for allegedly invading their school with thugs and attacked a teacher at Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this known in a press statement issued in Ota.

He said that the suspects were arrested on Jan. 18 following a distress call to the police from Toyon High school.

He added that parents of one of the SS 3 students, were in the school when the thugs attacked and injured a teacher, Mr. Abel Thomas.

“Upon the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Ado-Odo, SP Arowojeun Michael, quickly led his men to the school where the couple were arrested while their other accomplices escaped.” the police spokesman said.

According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the teacher moderately corrected one SS3 student of the school by name, Joshua Joseph, who later went home to inform his parents that he was beaten by the teacher.

“Having heard from their son, the parents who felt that the teacher had no right to beat their son, mobilized some thugs and stormed the school,” he said.

Oyeyemi said that on getting to the school, the thugs beat the teacher and injured him.

He added that the thugs also damaged the back screen of a Toyota Corolla with registration number LSD 395 FV belonging to one Jolayemi Sunday, a teacher in the school.

“Later, the injured teacher was taken to hospital for medical treatment,“ he said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the arrest of the thugs, now at large, who accompanied the couple to attack the teacher.

Bankole also directed that the arrested couples should be charged to court without delay.
