AUPCTRE advocates labour management relations to curb rising Industrial disharmony

The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Technical and Recreational Employees (AUPCTRE), has suggested remodeling of labour management relations to curb industrial disharmony in work places.

Mr Aliyu Maradun, FCT Council Chairman of AUPCTRE, gave the advice at the end of five days workshop on industrial sustainability on Saturday in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

Maradun said the union organised the workshop with the aim of finding ways of tackling the rising industrial disharmony across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He explained that participants were trained on grievance handling and trade dispute settlement, in order to mitigate the constant friction between workers and managements in MDAs.

According to him industrial relations, peace and harmonious living among social partners in the workplace, is a basic foundation for attaining productivity, quality services, self fulfilment and job enrichment.

He further explained that the workshop was specially organised for labour leaders and human resource officers.

Earlier, One of the resource persons, Sikiru Waheed, commended the FCT council of AUPCTRE for organising the workshop.

According to Sikiru, effective labour management relations which fosters industrial sustainability, is hinged on a tripartite consensus between organised labour, management and government.

He noted that this was based on truth,mutual respect and collective bargaining.

He further explained that labour management relations was vital in the management of human resources of any organisation.

Participants at the workshop expressed gratitude for the knowledge they acquired and pledged putting same to use for industrial harmony and progress of the country.

Aluta News reports that 45 MDA’s participated in the workshop with veteran labour leaders and university dons as resource persons.
