Robbery Attack: How Gunmen Stole N11.6m from Ministry of Finance.
Nasarawa State Government has confirmed the carting away of N11.6 million by armed robbers at the State Ministry of Finance, Budget and Planning.
The state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Dogo Shammah who stated this in a statement in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital said the gunmen trailed officials of the ministry on arrival from making withdrawals at a second generation bank along Lafia -Jos Road.
The commissioner said, the gunmen carted away the cash while shooting sporadically.
According to Mr. Shammah, the money was meant to host a team from the Revenue, Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission which was due to visit the state as well as furnishing and refurbishing of offices and vehicles.
He explained that the purported carting away of N100 million meant for payment of salaries for casual workers reported in some section of the media was untrue.
Mr. Dogo Shammah however pointed out that the incidence had been reported to security agencies and investigation had commenced.
