President Buhari possible ascent to Peace Corps of Nigeria Bill coming soon- Sen. Ndume
Senator Ali Ndume, Chairman Senate Committee on Army has predicted the possibility of President Buhari assenting to the Peace Corps of Nigeria Bill soon.
Ndume made the prediction during the peace corps of Nigeria Founders day and 22nd anniversary celebration in Abuja on Thursday.
Ndume said one of his greatest shocks in life was the president’s decline ascent to the bill, even after passing through various, processes, including public hearing as well as a very robust discussion and talk with experts.
“Iam confident that this time around, once the legislative process is completed,President Buhari will definitely assent to the bill ” the Senator said.
In his remarks at the occasion, Amb. Dickson Akoh, National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) said that the founders day anniversary celebration was a very significant occasion of the organization
He said that despite the daunting
institutional and foundational challenges, the PCN had recorded monumental achievements as it had transformed from a handful passionate youth organisation in 1998 into a body with membership strength of over 187,000 youths.
According to him,PCN comprised members and volunteers.
He said that the organization currently had a well structured branches in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja
The occasion was observed under a strict social distancing measure with Honourable Mohammed Monguno, Chief Whip , House of Representatives, Mr Okay Agu of National Human Right Commission and other notable stakeholders of the organization in attendance
