COVID-19 Reach Out, Coalition of over 300 NGO’s to partner with government in addressing humanitarian emergencies-NIHA

The Nigerian Humanitarian Action (NIHA) has mobilize over 300 NGO’s to Reach Out to Nigerians through strategic action that will cushion the direct impact of the economic and social effects of the compulsory and total shutdown of the economy

NIHA also plans to mobilize individuals, humanitarian and professional organization, service oriented benefactors to support government effort in addressing COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria

Mr Kleisaint Akoh National Convener NIHA had informed the media in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday

He said that over 300 Non Governmental Organization (NGOs) on the platform of NIHA are to provide basic relief to the most vulnerable in the society through the support of organization and individuals

Mr Akoh said NIHA is the institutional rallying point for state and non state actors in collaborating to address the national Humanitarian emergencies occasioned by COVID-19 in Nigeria

He said that a special appeal for support fund instrument both for government and NGO’s will be deploy, also the deployment of food and critical home needs to the most vulnerable people in Nigeria

The national convener appeal to Nigerians to bear the pains associated with the lockdown as it is a temporary measures and the best option in curtailing the spread of Coronavirus

He advice Nigerians to observe social distance, use hand sanitizers and maintain regular hygiene during this period

Akoh appeal to corporate organizations, philanthropist and religious organizations to support the government by reaching out to the poor masses in Nigeria

He added that the coalition of NGO’S in NIHA umbrella have their network of volunteers spread across the 36 states and FCT would volunteer to provide the desire humanitarian support in this critical time

Aluta News reports that NIHA is the principal interface organization for state and non state institutions with a mandate to initiate, organize, advocate and coordinate social enterprises and humanitarian assistance within Nigeria in order to strengthen government and NGO’s intervention in the sector.
