Olofua/Opeyori pair loses opening game in badminton men’s doubles event

The pair of Godwin Olofua and Anuoluwapo Opeyori on Saturday lost their opening Group B fixture in the men’s doubles event of badminton competition at the ongoing 2020 Olympic Games.

In their first group play stage fixture at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza Centre in Tokyo, the pair lost 0-2 to the Japanese pair of Hiroyuki Endo and Yuta Watanabe.

Endo and Watanabe, who were the number four seeds, completely annihilated their Nigerian foes by winning game one 21-2 and game two 21-7 in 24 minutes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigerian pair will now meet Denmark’s pair of Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen on Monday in their next match.
