Kaduna Govt takes over medical bills of woman locked up for 2 years by brother

Kaduna State Government said it would take full responsibility of Hassana Sale, the woman rescued on Monday after she was locked up for two years by her brother.
Already, the mother of four has been admitted at the intensive care unit of Kaduna Psychiatric hospital.
The woman was rescued on Monday through the efforts of an NGO, Arridah Relief Foundation in Rigasa area of Kaduna.
Hajiya Hafsat Baba, the state Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kaduna, that the government would take appropriate action against the suspects.
“Kaduna state government is now fully responsible for her medications, her welfare and her wellbeing up to the time she stabilizes.
“The major concern of the government is the health and the welfare of the victim.
“We have already deposited money to the psychiatric hospital and the ministry will be checking periodically and will be getting reports from the hopital.
“We will continue to look after Hassana as a government and we will also settle all the bills,” Baba said.
The commissioner said Gov. Nasiru El-Rufai has given instructions that the ministry should do what is necessary to stabilize the woman and follow up on her children.
“We will do follow up on the children to ensure that we collect them from the husband, know their welfare and schooling,” she added.
Baba assured that the state government would ensure that justice is done to Hassana.
“We are also concentrating on those people that locked her up and the case is already before the police in Riggasa, but will be transferred to CID headquarters for proper investigation.
“We will also do a follow up and ensure that we write report and refer the case to the Ministry of Justice for proper prosecution, because we cannot leave such matter to just go away like that, we have laws to protect the citizens of the state.”
The commissioner appreciated the foundation for ensuring the woman was freed, and for working with the ministry.
She called on parents to take full responsibility of their children, stressing that most parents had completely abandoned their responsibilities.
“We don’t listen to our children; when a lady is married and has problems the parents don’t want to listen to what is happening in her matrimonial home which is very wrong.
“We as parents must meet up our responsibilities, we can’t have children and throw them to the streets and believe that somebody will be there to discipline them, it’s absolutely very wrong.”(NAN)Continue Reading
Woman locked up for 2 years by brother in Kaduna regains freedom

Kaduna based NGO, Arida Relief Foundation and a team of policeman have secured the release of a woman, Hassana Sale, who was locked up in a dark room at their family residence for two years, to prevent her access to her estranged husband.
The mother of four was found in a “terrible state” locked up in the room by her brother which was discover by the NGO and police on Monday in Rigasa area of Kaduna.
According to the founder of the NGO, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, the victim, Hassana Sale, was deprived of her freedom by her elder brother, one Malam Lawal Sale over her intention to go back to her matrimonial home.
Salisu explained that the woman became depressed when she was divorced by her husband, but due to the love for the children, visited them daily.
“She visits the children on daily basis, so the elder brother and some of her relatives decided to lock her up in a dark room for two years so that she will not go back to her ex-husband,” she told the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Kaduna.
“We have taken her to the hospital and when she becomes stable, she would be handed over to the state Ministry of Human Service and Social Development to pursue the matter.”

Kogi Guber: 58 political parties declares unflinching support to Bello

Ahead of Kogi governorship election slated for Nov. 16, 58 political parties under the auspices of the United Political Parties for Good Governance have unanimously declared unflinching support to the incumbent Gov. Yahaya Bello.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the parties are Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria(GDPN), Democratic Alternative (DA), National Conscious Party (NCP), People Redemption Party (PRP) and Democratic Peoples Party (DPP).
Others are Advanced Congress of Democrat(ACD), Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), All People’s Party(APP), Citizens People’s Party( CPP) and the rest.
The National Secretary of Democratic Alternative (DA), Mr Frank Ukonga announced this when he led a delegation of leaders of the 58 political parties to paid a courtesy call on the FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, on Wednesday in Lokoja.
Ukonga said that the reelection of Gov. Bello would enable him continue with good governance and consolidate on his achievements so far.
He said that Bello as the youngest governor in the country had given hope and inclusive to the youth of Kogi in particular and the nation in general.
The party leader also said that Gov. Bello deserves to be reelected to continue to be the shining example for the youth in the country.
” We are national leaders of 58 registered political parties who have come together under the platform of the United Political Parties for Good Governance (UPPG) to promote good governance and quality service delivery to Nigerians.
” We have observed with keen interest, in the past four years, the laudable programmes and achievements of Gov. Bello which has encouraged us to come all the way from the FCT to declare our support toward his victory in the Nov. 16 governorship election in Kogi.
” As national leaders of 58 political parties with structures and large followership in Kogi has come to mobilise our members and the people of the state to give their unflinching support to Gov. Bello in the Saturday governorship election.
” We strongly believe that the unflinching support of our members would further guarantee and enhance the victory of Bello in the election, ” Ukonga said.
He, therefore, call on the teeming members and supporters and the general public in Kogi to come out en-mass and vote Bello and his Deputy Onoja.
He used the occasion to appealed to members and supporters of the 58 political parties as well as the good people of Kogi to shun any act of violence, before, during and after the governorship election.
Responding, the FCT Minister of state, expressed delight to the leaders and members of the 58 political parties for their support to the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent Gov. Bello of Kogi.
Aliyu noted that it was not easy for different political parties to unite and speak with one voice on some issues, saying ” only God will reward the leaders of the 58 parties for their solidarity to the reelection of Gov. Bello.
She assured the leaders of the 58 political parties that she would not only passed their message to the governor but also to the national leadership of the APC in Abuja.
Aliyu said there was never a time when continuity was not the best option when it comes to good governance and upliftment of the downtrodden in the society.
” On behalf of Gov. Bello and all APC stakeholders in Kogi and the national level, I want to sincerely appreciate you for the support and solidarity to reelection bid of the governor, ” Aliyu said.
In a related development, the Minister held meeting with all the APC Wards leaders in Lokoja and enjoined to mobilise their members and supporters to vote for Gov. Bello on Saturday governorship election.
