The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has emphasized the importance of cooperation and intelligence sharing among security agencies to tackle non-state actors in Africa. Speaking at the 2025 National Institute Seminar of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) in Bwari, Abuja, Audi highlighted the growing complexity of asymmetric conflicts, where adversaries employ unconventional tactics that challenge traditional defence approaches.

Audi stressed that the most effective response to these threats lies in strengthening inter-agency synergy through the 3 Cs — Cooperation, Collaboration, and Coordination, supported by timely actionable intelligence sharing. He noted that when security agencies work together, citizens can feel safe and secure, declaring, “When security agencies move as one, the people sleep with both eyes closed.”

The NSCDC CG underscored that intelligence, when promptly shared and acted upon, is the decisive edge in preventing security breaches. He emphasized that public vigilance, credible reporting of suspicious activities, and trust-based cooperation with law enforcement are essential components of a robust security framework.

Audi concluded that national security is a shared responsibility, and the way forward requires a united front, where security agencies operate seamlessly, intelligence flows without obstruction, and the people remain active stakeholders in safeguarding peace and stability. By working together, security agencies and citizens can create a safer and more secure environment, ultimately contributing to peace and stability in Nigeria.

Aluta News reports that Citizens play a critical role in the security process, and their cooperation is essential in preventing security breaches. Audi’s remarks highlight the importance of building trust between security agencies and the public, facilitating effective collaboration and ensuring that intelligence is shared promptly and acted upon.
