The Rotary Club of Abuja Gudu is set to deliver a five-in-one community impact project aimed at improving access to education, promoting peace, strengthening public health, encouraging hygiene and empowering residents with income-generating skills.
The initiative, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, at LEA Primary School, Angwa Fulani Village, behind NPI Estate, Gaduwa, Abuja, will bring together five areas of focus of Rotary International in a single community outreach.
The project will feature back-to-school support for pupils, a spelling bee competition with prizes, a presentation on crisis prevention, free health checks, the installation of a handwashing station and bead-making skills acquisition.
The initiative reflects a community-based approach to development that combines immediate assistance with practical interventions designed to promote long-term well-being and self-reliance.
Under its literacy and basic education component, the club will provide back-to-school support and organise a spelling bee competition to encourage learning, build pupils’ confidence and promote educational development.
The peacebuilding component will feature a talk on crisis prevention, with emphasis on raising awareness of the importance of preventing conflicts and promoting peaceful coexistence within communities.
The health intervention will provide free health checks, while the installation of a handwashing station is expected to promote better hygiene practices and help raise awareness about the prevention of hygiene-related diseases.
The economic empowerment component will focus on bead-making skills acquisition, providing participants with an opportunity to learn a practical craft that could support self-employment and supplementary income generation.
By combining educational support, health promotion, hygiene infrastructure, peacebuilding and vocational training, the project seeks to address different dimensions of community needs through a coordinated intervention.
The outreach also provides an opportunity for Rotarians, community members and other stakeholders to work together in advancing sustainable community development.
The Rotary Club of Abuja Gudu has invited fellow Rotarians and members of the public to participate in the initiative, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
The project aligns with Rotary International’s broader commitment to humanitarian service and its seven areas of focus: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies and protecting the environment.
Through the initiative, the club is bringing several of these priorities directly to the community, with activities designed to support children, promote healthier living and expand opportunities for economic empowerment.
The outreach will take place at LEA Primary School, Angwa Fulani Village, Gaduwa, Abuja.
