NYCN Crisis Update: Northern Forum committed to protecting genuine progressive interest of north

The Northern Forum of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has expressed commitment to protecting genuine and progressive interest that would move the region and the country forward.

Chairman of the Forum, Comrade, Bagudu Joseph, stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Joseph also said that the forum would continue to support any initiative by whosoever targeted at adding succour to the plights of Nigerian youth irrespective of what part of the country the initiator comes from.

He said the Northern Forum of NYCN was saddened by what it considers as a deliberate attempt to set the youth constituency against itself using North and South dichotomy.

According to Joseph, in the last 24 hours, the forum read from the pages of the free media, press releases on an alleged attempt by the leadership of the National President of NYCN Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo who is alleged to be masterminding a protest against Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN).

The forum swung into action almost immediately given the sensible nature of the allegation and our preliminary findings were as follows.

” That the said allegation of organising a protest against PCN couldn’t be substantiated as there’s no concrete evidence either written or recorded that lends credence to the allegation.
” We personally engaged both the leadership of NYCN and PCN, the former completely denied knowledge of organising any protests against PCN, insisting that let any evidence be made available written or oral by anyone who is alleging, while the later, based his claims on intelligence gathered and posted on social media by people he believes have close ties with the NYCN.”
Joseph said that it was clear that the allegation was just within the realm of speculation and as such should discarded appropriately.

He noted that National President of NYCN Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo is not an enemy of the North or North interest as been speculated, rather he is indeed a confirmed lover of the north.

Joseph, therefore, assured that the forum would continue to protect and strengthen the mutual bond of love that binds the North together with their southern brothers within and outside the NYCN family in the larger interest of the country.

He noted that PCN was a progressive intervention to the youth constituency as such should be supported and encouraged.

He used the occasion to call on the youth to renew their faith in the NYCN and the country at large and to support leaders starting with the NYCN leadership so that meaningful progress can be made in the interest of teaming youth.
