Breaking: Buhari Sacks Prof Sani Mashi appoints Prof Mansur Matazu as DG, NiMet
President Muhammadu Buhari sacks Director General of the Nigerian Meteorological Organization (NiMet), Professor Sani Mashi replaces him with Professor Bako Mansur Matazu.
Professor Matazu holds a PhD in Geography (Applied Meteorology), with membership of the Nigerian Environmental Society, African Forestry Forum, Nigerian Meteorological Society, the Climate Change Network, Nigeria and the renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Nigeria (REEN).
He was, until his appointment, the General Manager, Meteorological Research in the Agency.
He hailed from Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
This confirmed earlier rumors that the President is planning to appoint Professor Mashi’s successor from Katsina.
